Thorn Riviera

The thorn riviera is a lantern with a polypropylene canopy and a GRP frame. They were never very good lanterns, as they often lost their canopy because of the plastic clip, and the canopy is also very lightweight, making it easier for it to blow away. They have a ip66 optic system, and they can have a polycarbonate bowl, a flat glass or a curved glass bowl.

A5, Hockliffe, Leighton Buzzard

These thorn rivieras are on the A5 in Hockliffe, Leighton Buzzard. Nowadays, there aren’t many left, as most of them have been replaced with holophane V-Max Gen2s, but a few remain. A few of the remaining ones have no canopies, and most of them also aren’t in very good condition, and the polycarbonate bowls are yellow.

Here is a riviera with no canopy

Here is another riviera, but this one doesn’t have much left apart from a small piece of GRP!

Here is a riviera with a different type of bowl, it looks like a curved glass bowl.
