URBIS CARLTON LARGE
The urbis Carlton large is the biggest version of the urbis Carlton. The urbis Carlton is similar to the DW windsor ELY, but they are a bit different. Urbis Carlton’s usually run on a SON lamp.
Staines
These urbis Carlton larges are in Staines, and they had a retrofit plate made by DW windsor in them. They also have a urbannode radio node on them. They were probably installed between 1998 and 2005. They replaced thorn alpha 3s. They first had mini-cells on them, but between 2009 and 2014, they were fitted with leafnut radio nodes. Between 2022 and now, they were fitted with LED retrofit plates made by DW windsor with a urbannode radio node on them.
These ones have had their gear trays and bowls removed, probably because they had failed. A few of them were like this. They have now got their LED gear trays and bowls back now.
Here is a picture of the urbis Carltons on columns, this is on Clarence street, Staines.
This urbis Carlton large on Thames street in Staines, Surrey has also lost its geartray! I think the gear tray has been removed so they can be repaired or replaced.
Here is one with a LED COB lamp in it. I believe this one is owned by spelthorne borough council.
This urbis Carlton large is on a 6m urbis Blenheim column. Unfortunately, it has a LED corn lamp like the other one.
As this column had a mini-photocell on the side of the column, I covered the cell to switch on the light!
